Garfish

Garfish

Garfish are a small, slender pelagic species that can grow up to 50cm but are more common around 20-30cm long. Two species are caught along our coastline, the Robust (storm) garfish generally inhabits northern waters where as the Southern Garfish is caught in cooler waters.

Regarded as a bread and butter species by anglers, garfish are a tasty often underrated fish. Our garfish are sold as butterfied boneless fillets best suited to coating in a light seasoning, crumb or batter. Fillets are thin and cook quickly.
