Native to Indian Ocean and the Western Pacific Ocean in warm tropical waters over coral bottom and reef edges bordering on sand at depths ranging from 20-90m.
Most species are relatively small, growing up to 35cm but the Robinson Seabream (Gymnocranius grandoculis) can grow up to 80cm.
Bream are sweet tasting with delicate boneless flesh. They make an ideal choice for children or those seeking very mild tasting fillet.
The boneless moist fillets have a delicate flavour and hold together well when cooked.
A great tasting fish barbecued, pan fried, grilled and steamed.
