Coral Trout


Coral Trout are a fierce reef dwelling predator inhabiting coral reefs in both shallow and deep water.

There are a number of different species, the most common include; barcheek, blue spotted, leopard and passionfruit trout.


Their colouration varies markedly between species and within the same species depending on the depth of their habitat – Barcheek Trout caught in deep water are bright orange with vivid blue spots but those from shallow water are dark brown with muted blue spots.


Coral Trout are protogynous hermaphrodites, i.e they begin life as females then change gender to become males after reaching sexual maturity.


Scaled, skin-on individually vacuum sealed fillets ranging 200-500g.
